Party of Regions leader Victor Yanukovych
believes that the regular presidential election must take place in the
year 2010, after New Year and Chirstmas holidays.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, Victor Yanukovych claimed this to a press conference in Donetsk on Thursday.
He
noted that after the Constitutional Court announced its ruling, the
Party of Regions has not decided as yet what date of the presidential
election it will support.
Victor Yanukovych pointed out that he
had discussed the issue with lawyers, who believe that the presidential
election must take place either on December 27, 2009, or on January 17,
2010.

Ukraine on Wednesday ruled as unconstitutional the October 25 date set
by parliament for the next presidential election in Ukraine. According

(1) Macroeconomic conditions remain
difficult in Ukraine, as most sectors reported substantial declines in
economic activities in the first two months of 2009.

Though the government collected budget revenues above the planned
amounts, deeper fiscal data readings suggest that state finances are
under significant strain this year.

price inflation decelerated to 18.1% in March 2009. Despite a number of
upwards pressures on prices, inflation is likely to decline to about
15% yoy at the end of the year.
